Development of a New Family of Lawn Tractors

Stiga: Tornado PRO

This product design features an innovative look with precise, sporty lines that express all the technical innovations applied to it. Particular attention was given to the design of the front hood, as it’s the most distinguishing aspect of the entire project, with lines that evoke an automotive style and resemble the characteristic design of larger tractors.

“A product capable of relaunching the ride-on lawnmower family in the market.”

Three stylistic elements were specifically chosen for development following the critical issues identified by the company:

  1. Reduction of the space between the hood and the front wheels, harmonizing the design between the parts.
  2. Cosmetic styling on the color scheme—yellow/black/gray—to achieve a technical and elegant feel.
  3. A hood design that gives personality to the entire structure, approaching the design of larger tractors while considering the necessary space for the new engine and new aeration zones.

The overall goal was to achieve a sporty, robust look with refined details and premium materials, positioning it in the high-end market segments. For this industrial design project, Delineo design‘s designer focused not only on the product’s aesthetic but also on its more industrial aspects. Efficiently designing and, more importantly, producing a new product is fundamental for any company to make the economic effort of production and market launch feasible and profitable.

Throughout the entire project, particular attention was given to the design of the front headlights. These were a highly characterizing part of the whole project and fully integrated into the hood’s design, featuring latest-generation LED technology and a light guide curved downwards that culminates in a frontal light point.
