LUNETTE: Designing an ice cream display case
High-tech food design
The project stems from the company’s need to design a high-tech ice cream display case that improves product visibility and reduces energy consumption. The goal? To design an ice cream display case through a food design study, positioning it as the new technological frontier for gelato shops.
Lunette IFI is a high-tech ice cream display case with significant aesthetic appeal. Its production in different modules gives it extreme versatility in use.
Lunette is available in a linear gelato shop version, featuring an on-board compressor (UC), an HCS self-closing system, 36×25 cm pans, and a white lacquered condensate evaporation tray.

Research and development are the hallmarks of IFI, a company that has been furnishing public spaces like bars, gelato shops, and restaurants worldwide for years. Always attentive to design, IFI approached our industrial design studio to advance the design and technology of their ice cream display cases. With the end consumer always as our reference point, we aimed to develop a concept centered around the idea of greater visibility for the various gelato flavors, excellent product preservation, and improved energy savings.
After defining the strategy through concept design, the first sketches were drawn. These immediately highlighted a new frontier for ice cream display cases, giving them curved lines that facilitate viewing the gelato from any angle. Subsequently, in collaboration with the company, we developed the new closing system, which was intended to revolutionize the ice cream display case market. This is a perfect example of high-tech food design where Delineo design applied its product design knowledge to re-engineer a product for the food industry.
